What is the Center for Excellence?
The Center for Excellence is a program created to aid in player development and to teach and refine individual skills within young players.
The program will comprise of one 60-minute session per week for 7 weeks (two winter sessions), which includes 6 training dates plus 1 fun day, which will be the last session). Individual player's technique will be emphasized with sessions focusing upon either 1v1 moves, turns, shielding, short passing and small group play or striking the ball, long passing, shooting exercises and small-sided games.
- To teach young players to make decisions in a game-like “setting” using the appropriate skills, thereby improving their technical development.
- To Challenge the players to take their newly acquired, or perfected skills back to their club, use them in training and gam situations, and to assist their teammates in learning these skills.
We will run two distinctive classes:
Center of Excellence Skills Class
This class will provide an enjoyable and enriching environment for players who have shown an ability to “take players on”. It will feature 1v1 skills, ball manipulation and other aspects of the game that will help build confidence as well as gaining a positive, confident attitude to use these skills within the game.
Center for Excellence Strikers Class?
The Center for Excellence strikers class is for players who love scoring goals and plan to hone their skills as a striker. This class is purely working on the different types of technique to strike a ball and movement off the ball to create an opportunity to shoot on goal.
Any U9 to U12 soccer player is eligible for participation in the Center for Excellence. There is no selection or invitation process for this program. However, there will be a limit of 15 players that can attend and it’s on a 1st come 1st serve basis.
All players must register online. NO WALK-ONS ALLOWED
What are the benefits of participating in the Center of Excellence?
This developmental program will be "player centered" and not "coach controlled". Specifically, the teaching concentrates on those "individual skills" that are used most by players and needed to excel in soccer.
The program offers players the opportunity to train with players outside of their own club with other like-minded players.
The Center for Excellence classes will take place at The Sports Factory, 175 Beaver Brook Rd, Lincoln Park, NJ 070735.
